Safeguarding
At Princess May, keeping children safe is everyone's responsibility. All staff are trained to recognise and report concerns, and we work closely with Hackney Children and Families Services and other agencies to protect children and support families.
Our safeguarding team
- Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL): Hannah Blunden
- Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads: Kevin Reynolds, Hiba Ali, Sophie Klimt and Joanna Wysocka
If you are worried about a child
- If a child is in immediate danger, call 999.
- If your concern is about a Princess May pupil, speak to any member of our safeguarding team in person, or call the school office on 020 7254 1589 and ask for the Designated Safeguarding Lead. Please do not wait until you are sure, and do not try to investigate yourself – share what you have seen or heard as soon as you can.
- If you would rather speak to the council, or it is outside school hours, contact Hackney Children and Families Services' Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) on 020 8356 5500 or MASH@hackney.gov.uk (9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday). Out of hours, call the Emergency Duty Team on 020 8356 2710.
- If your concern is about a member of staff or a volunteer, please tell the headteacher. If it is about the headteacher, contact the Chair of Governors, Kristofer McGhee, through the school office. You can also contact Hackney's Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) on 020 8356 4569.
- For confidential advice, you can call the NSPCC helpline on 0808 800 5000.
