PE and Sport Premium

The PE and sport premium is government funding for primary schools. We must use it to make additional and sustainable improvements to PE, sport and physical activity for all our pupils. This page sets out how we spent our funding in 2025–26, the difference it made, and our plans for 2026–27.

2025–26 report

Funding received

We received £17,750 for the 2025–26 academic year. All of it was spent by 31 July 2026.

How we spent it

Activity Cost
Coach-led lunchtime sport and clubs every day (about 13 coaching hours a week), giving more pupils the chance to be active £14,820
Specialist coaches team-teaching PE with class teachers to build staff confidence and expertise £1,580
PE equipment £1,350
Total £17,750

Impact on pupils

  • More pupils active at lunchtime. Coach-led sport runs every lunchtime, so many more children take part in structured physical activity each day.
  • Teachers are more confident teaching PE. Working alongside specialist coaches has improved teachers' subject knowledge and the quality of PE lessons.
  • Calmer, better-organised lunchtimes. Structured sport has improved behaviour at lunchtime, including for pupils with individual support plans.
  • Better PE skills. Lesson visits and pupil voice by our PE subject leader show that pupils' skills and technique in PE lessons have improved, as teachers have applied what they learned from working with specialist coaches.

How we will sustain this

Teachers who have team-taught with coaches now plan and deliver PE independently, so the improvement in teaching will continue as funding falls. Lunchtime sport is part of our daily routine and is supported by our staff, and the equipment we bought will be used for years to come.

Swimming and water safety

Percentage of our 2025–26 Year 6 pupils who met the national curriculum requirements:

Requirement Percentage of Year 6
Swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres 77%
Use a range of strokes effectively, for example front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke 67%
Perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations 77%

These pupils had swimming lessons at Clissold Leisure Centre in 2023–24, when they were in Year 4.

2026–27 plan

The DfE has reduced the premium for 2026–27 to £6,240 plus £10 per pupil in Years 1 to 6. We expect to receive about £7,990, and will update this page when the allocation is confirmed. We will focus it on what has worked best:

Planned activity Planned cost
Coach-led lunchtime sport and clubs £4,990
Specialist coaches team-teaching with teachers to build PE expertise £3,000
Total £7,990

This year's Year 6 had an intensive two-week swimming course at Clissold in June 2025, and Year 5 will swim there in January 2027. We will publish our 2026–27 report, including swimming results for this year's Year 6, by 31 July 2027.
