Free School Meals (FSM)
Free lunches for every primary pupil in 2026-27
All children at Princess May, from Reception to Year 6, receive a free school lunch during the 2026-27 school year, regardless of family income. This is funded by the Mayor of London.
Why you should still apply
Please still apply for free school meals if you are eligible. When you do, the school receives extra Pupil Premium funding to support your child, for example through small-group teaching, resources, trips and clubs. Your child may also be able to get other support, such as help with holiday activities and school uniform. You only need to apply once.
Who is eligible
From September 2026, all families receiving Universal Credit are eligible, whatever their income. Families receiving certain other benefits (such as income-related Employment and Support Allowance, the guarantee element of Pension Credit, or asylum support) are also eligible. Some families with no recourse to public funds may be eligible too – please speak to the school office.
If you applied in the past, Hackney Education has rechecked your entitlement for September 2026.
How to apply
Apply online through Hackney Education. It only takes a few minutes, and the school is told the outcome, usually within 5 school days.
