Absence and Attendance

Reporting an absence

If your child is unable to attend school, please telephone the school office on 0207 254 1589 by 9:00am on the first day of absence, and every day after that, giving the reason. If we have not heard from you, we will contact you to make sure your child is safe.

Arriving on time

The school gates open at 8:45am (soft start) and close at 8:55am. The register is taken at 8:55am. Pupils arriving after the gates close must come in through the school office and are marked late; the register closes at 9:25am, after which a late arrival is recorded as an unauthorised absence unless there is a good reason.

Is my child well enough for school?

Most mild illnesses, such as a cough or a cold, do not need time off school. If you are unsure, the NHS gives clear advice: Is my child too ill for school? (NHS). Always telephone the school if your child is unwell.

Leave of absence in term time

Leave of absence during term time will only be granted in exceptional circumstances. Requests must be made to the Headteacher on the leave of absence form at least 3 weeks in advance. Unauthorised term-time leave may result in a penalty notice issued by the local authority.

Keeping your details up to date

Please make sure the school always has at least two emergency contacts and up-to-date phone numbers for you.

Our Attendance Champion

Our Senior Attendance Champion is Hannah Blunden, Assistant Headteacher. Please speak to her or the school office if you have any concerns about your child's attendance — we are here to help.
